helenski 1
I've been thinking about beekeeping a lot recently and as a result a few of us went to a seminar where we learnt a lot about the basics including materials for the hive. He suggested that the best thing to build a hive out of would be polysyrene and I was wondering if anyone had any views on this please?
ZacB 131
Search out a local beekeeping association and see what hives are being used in your area. We use commercial hives (have a top bar waiting to be filled though to have a play with), lots around us use nationals. Have had some experience with poly's but think my cedar hives will out last so greener / cheaper / more indestructible in the long run - land rover springs to mind. Search out your local association for some guidance
