Shepeake 0
Hi Everyone, I'm living in Ireland and am lucky enough to spend my Winters working my dogs, which are Chesapeakes, on two driven shoots as well as taking my own gun out every now and then for a spot of duck shooting on the Shannon. I write a blog about our adventures through the year.

Shepeake 0
Chesapeakes are Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, dogs that originated in the Chesapeake Bay area of Maryland USA. Their primary function was as a meat-market dog. In the days of punt-gunning they were required to retrieve multiple numbers of birds that were then sold to the expensive restaurants in Baltimore. The environment they worked in was tough often battling high seas, freezing temperatures and strong currents and their characteristics , to this day, very much reflect this. They are a breed that is tenacious and much more independent thinking than a Labrador. When I am allowed to post photos I will.
