Another Cold Night

After mondays trip out with Daz i really wanted to get out again so when my brother in law asked if i was going out and could he come we both went pretty much straight from work.

got to the permission around 7 and headed out into the field sweeping with the red lamp, saw a couple of eyes in the distance but the field was so clarty it was hard to stay on your feet let alone be quiet and they both fled.

decided to huncker down near a dry stone wall. popped up after ten minutes and shone the light in the same place Daz39 got his on monday and saw a rabbit grazing about 30 yrds away, my brother in law was at the bottom of the field and snapped a twig the crack made the rabbit rear up so before he made any more noise i rested the gun on the wall and took a quick shot and it went down without a kick.

Happy with that i went back to the truck for a swig of whisky to warm up, when adam got back to the truck he said he was having problems with his light so i detached my lamp and left the gun in the truck and lamped for him.

we wandered down into the front garden and saw a rabbit digging up a flower bed it was 45-50 yrds but if we had climbed over the fence we would have made to much noise so adam said he could take the shot but would have to feed the pellet between two trees. he took the shot and i saw a puff of dirt just behind it missed by a tiny distance.

back up towards the field and on the bank up to the horse field another set of eyes 20 ish yards away adam dropped to one knee and made no mistake this time.

not a bad night one a piece and i took both rabbits home for a stew.
