Malt 379
Me and my mate went to check on our legally set fenn traps last night. We found a Jill dead in one of our traps. I thought it might have been a wild Poley at first, but it was quite fat and looked well fed, not rangy and lean like the pictures I have of wild Poleys. Also, the ferts coat had like a greyish, silver tint to it. The place isn't even suitable for ferreting, you can't see any of the burys, as they are all in a lot of thick gorse and bramble. My guess is that some young lad has sneaked onto the land, as it's widely known to have rabbits on it. If the person had asked for permision, he would have been informed by the land owner that there were traps in the field, and would have been spared the loss of what looked like a well cared for ferret. Guest Ditch_Shitter
Sadly mate, shit can happen. With or without permission. I've personally found recently set Gin Traps in rabbit bury's. I also heard of a genuine discovery of a very old, extremely rare and valuable type of Gin being discovered in such a place too. Only that one had obviously been set there half a century and more ago and simply lost! But the fact is, partly due to my own life long interest in traps, I've Always sort of looked twice into any bury I come across. Just in case. Twin reasoning behind me doing that, of course Actually, I rather suspect that ferret had wandered in from elsewhere. Think about it; Who would release a ferret into cover anyway? And if, as ye suggest, it was some inexperianced youngster? Ye'd more likely be posting about finding several of ye traps missing, rather than finding a ferret in one. No? Quote Link to post
Hywel 53
Just out of interest (and not to upset Ditch Shitter ), was it wearing a locator? Quote Link to post
Guest Ditch_Shitter
That broke a rather morbid spell for me, mate! Got me pissing myself laughing where, moments ago, I'd gone all serious and black for a moment! First post I've looked at in hours and I'm straight back to self. Nice one! Quote Link to post
