Wanted 100% Marking Dog

My marking dog has just died on me, and i need a 100% marking dog for rabbits, must be stock broke ferret broke and not a lurcher. I havnt time to bring a pup on, so money waiting for guarinteed marker.

You might be better putting this on the Bushing Section, and also on Dogs for sale under wanted.

Get a dog, maybe a decent mongrel n let it chase a rabbit down a hole, watch how it reacts. Next time it does it stick a ferret down. Never had a dog not learn how to mark within a day or two.

Tag1, doesnt work like that fella,u havnt a clue, i wouldnt like to see your marking dog haha.

Got fixed up anyway with a cracker shes as good as my old one that died.

HOLDING A MARK she may be but she'll be turning more rabbits back down than bolt by staring down the hole

Can only say it's never taken me long to encourage a dog to mark reliably and I've never had to chain a dog up while I ferret

In my experience most dogs will mark, start them young sniffing, licking etc rabbits and they pick it up in no time. My German shep is a very good marking dog, he just doesn't seem to want to kill/hold the rabbits once they bolt he would rather play with them lol.

If you actually read my first post you will see that i say i havnt got time to bring a pup on its mid season and i needed one marking at a high standard right away, i have a pup which will be brought on next year but it will take a full season to be to a standard i like my dogs to be, then i will have 2 top markers to use and wont be in a position i was in when my dog died. Yes most dogs will mark when taken but no dog will mark like an experienced dog after going out for a couple if weeks. As for pegging dogs down whilst we ferret i prefer it that way no point it bein loose it not a lurcher that can catch one if one brakes the net. I dont think some of u no wat a good dog is and how much time is needed to bring a pup on to be a good un.

I have 3 albeit lurchers/rabbiting dogs these were introduced to ferreting from 13weeks not full days to begin with,and all are 100% guaranteed markers, Its up to the handler to recognise when the dog is marking true, which can be done easily naturally NOT trained to mark. All dogs mark in different ways
