Jamie m 668
Tax man. If they are taxing the money you make from beating and treating it as paid work the as far as I can see you can claim back tax on any expenses the same way a plumber or mechanic can claim back the tax on money he spends on tools. So if you are beating without a dog you should be able to claim something for clothing and the petrol to get there. If you have a dog I would imagine you can claim something for its food as the dog is a tool for the 'job'. Nope unfortunately your turning up at a set time and doing as is being told to do therefore employed for the day , read through if the shoot has pay role ie keeper on a wage then you have to be taxed . More bollux , if the shoot does not have a pay role or make money , then your ok ,
Born Hunter 17,956
But most of you think the bedroom tax is ok...If your earning money..pay the tax Difference in my mind stabba being, beaters will do 6-8 hours work for 20 quid, do the maths, that's less than minimum wage! It's not a wage at all, it's just a little added bonus for a few pints on Sunday or whatever you want and to help cover the costs. And I've been saying that before HMRC got their knickers in a twist, it's not my blag for all this. We beat because we enjoy it and the 20 quid is just a thankyou. Yet the HMRC now want to treat us like we are earning a living from our 20 quid for a days hard work..... They're shitting their pants at maybe a few grand in lost tax through 'off the grid' beaters each year but couldn't give a shite that we are earning well under the minimum wage??? It shouldn't affect beaters really but it sounds like shoots are now going to have to set up a proper expenses claim system for beaters or simply increase their 'wage' to accomodate the few quid lost in tax. Mind you, it doesn't and won't affect me one bit.
