Shotguns

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've recently started college doing countryside management and I'm looking at getting my first shotgun, I've applied for my shotgun certificate and I have been shooting many times before but I don't know where to start with buying a gun. I don't have hundreds of pounds to spend just wanted to know a good gun make and a good price for a gun to get me started.

Any advise will be helpful,

Thanks

Tom.

Hi Tom, where are you doing your course at?

In terms of gun decide what you are going to use it for and what configuration is best. In terms of make anything from baikal, Lanber, Laurona, browning or beretta plus many more will last for ages aslong as you look after it. Just remember that fancy wood and engraving doesn't make you shoot better though haha

Also, look for second hand.

A good gun will cost more than £1K from the major manufacturers but there are bargains to be hand in the 2nd hand field so long as the gun is still in proof ie be careful where you buy from or at least get it looked over by someone in the know who can tell the amount of action wear and / or tell by eye / measure the barrel thickness.
