mynyddbrig 0
Hi I'm after a bit of advice if possible, I have a 9 week old lurcher pup who's front paws are turning in her left is dramatically more noticeable than her right, it doesn't seem to be causing her any pain no swelling and no injury that I know of I only noticed it today took her to vet and vet says they don't know what it could be and to see how it goes. if she is laying down or there is no weight on the paw seems to straighten. any advice or ideas would be great. Sirius 1,391
If the vet hasn't picked up anything sinister it is likely its whats called 'toeing in' which is generally passed by gentics. You often see dogs with saluki ancestry that 'toe out'. It shouldn't hinder the dog to much depending on the extent and its noticeable when the dogs on the move or stood four square. skycat 6,174
Is the leg bowed out at all? Or is it just the foot? If the legs are bowing outwards, which would make the toes turn inwards, it could be carpal varus. If you're worried, see your vet. Stick up a photo we can see. There's been a few pups on here suffer from that problem. Put the words carpal varus into the search option.
chook1 184
Toeing in can also happen as they grow, quite often a pup grows out of it when they reach adult hood, my deerhound did it for the first year of her life, then just came right again, just keep an eye out for anything else like the legs bowing, buckling, toes scraping etc
