Starting Puppies Working

Of course training starts from day 1 however when should you introduce your pup to fereting? I've been told a few different things and I'm undecided as to when I should start him! Also any advice on training him would be appreciated! Cheers

Took mine today. 8 weeks old. It's all part of learning and socialising I think.

 

I'm sure some will say its too young but I aren't asking the pup to run rabbits. It's good bonding aswell...

If your planning on doing a lot of ferreting with your dog mate id take him out with them pretty early. In my experience it really helps a pup realise ferrets are part of the team more than just socialising them at home on the yard.

Is there such thing as too early? For mooching and watching ferreting etc?

 

Obviously I know mileage and distance is an issue but I carried my pup to and from the ferreting ground and just let her mooch between sets.

Took mine out with me as soon as they had their jabs, no shame in carrying the pup once tired, common sense

i wait till they have a bit of obedience about them and go with someone else whos ferreting so i can concentrate on the pup , a big danger when their young is a bolter that they've no chance of catching

I take my pups out as soon as possible for ferreting they learn every trip out

thanks for the advice, i just was worried that if i took the dog out to young and it didnt have its killer instinct in full flow yet it would become socialized with the rabbits. but hes 13 weeks now so should be alright to get out
