Police/military Dogs

Watched a program earlier about army dogs and they were saying the bred 2 litters and kept 2 from worm and 4 from another, but what happens to the rest? Must be some good breeding in them dogs

Was over in Von Liche kennels , where the Nat geo program "Alpha Dogs "was made during the summer and its for that very reason they don't breed themselves , just too much waste , 2 pups make it out of a litter , what the hell do ya do with the rest??

So they buy most of their dogs in Europe , he has a kennel on the Germany border where they test them and if they make the grade ship them to the states to continue their training , even at that there are some dogs when they arrive in Indiana and are kennelled up with 100 other high driven dogs just can't produce the goods , they were good beside their owner back in Europe but with the drastic change of environment and different personal they just can't cut it,

they don't have time to put the work into these dogs to bring them on with scores of dogs needing to be trained , so they sell them off covering their costs for purchase and shipping but your still going to pay thousands for them

Police and military buy from big kennels like these because they won't have the problem of rehoming or weeding out the crap ones , they can watch as many dogs as they like perform and get exactly what they're looking for .

Most police dogs, arson, tracking, and the other, in my area come from this place. I've never been but I'm told it's a much larger yard than Hancock's.

I have never seen anything like it, its about 600 acres with various areas roundabouts used for stimulated training work, massive warehouse type kennel blocks , filled with hundreds of highly driven mals, Dutch and German shepherds and crosses between each, the noise is deafening , his own medical facility, scores of personal ,

Some police departments can take 6 months or more to knock a finished dog out for work , they don't keep any dog longer than 3 months , buy the dog , ship him in , throw the feeding and work into him and and sell him on after a month for 20 times what you payed for him, it's a factory style approach to service dogs but it works and they also have a very good follow up service

Best of luck

Never seen the police with a rotti but have seen a working import that certainly would put people off.

Aren't our police force using malinois yet instead? That said must still be working gsd that haven't been ruined.

Alot of working breeds to me seem really heavy built i understand you don't want a greyhound but just don't see to many fit gaurd dogs. The malinois I have seen though tick all the boxes.
