Poacherspocket 189
Iv just had soething very unexpected happen just wondering if anyone could shed any light on this. I bought a ferret for a couple of quid already in kit supposedly. I got her home and after a few week she was making a nest and I presumed shed be dropping the kits. I left her too it as you do just went in to clean her pen and feed and watet her. But after a week or 2 there was no signs of the kits and I guess either a phantome pregnancy or shes eating them as she probably wasnt used to me or her new surroundings. I then put her in with a hob and not thinking she could get pregnant for a fair while I never saw a problem. Now that was about 3 month ago possibly and I went down to there hutch today and there was her in a nest with atleast 10+ kits along with 3 other fairly young jills and a young hob so iv quickly shifted them and left her to it. Now shes used to me shes getting on with it. Has anyone an explanation for yhis or have had it happen? My theory is she was having a phantom pregnancy when I first got her and my hob got her pregnant imediatly for me not to notice her in season. Iv handled her for atleast half an hour a day and most days around an hour and havent noticed the usualy signs of weight gain and she hasnt lost any fur. Quote Link to post

Hot Meat 3,109
i think he means older kitts were his amd jill dropped a litter in nest box with them... your theory sounds about right mate Quote Link to post
The one 8,600
There only pregnant a day short of six weeks so if she was in with the hob for three months she was there six weeks before she came into season Quote Link to post
Poacherspocket 189
I had just the 2 ferrets to start with a jill and a hob. The jill never had her litter or ate them. And I then bought 3 young jills and a young hob all about 4-5 months old as I was planning on keeping 4 ferrets out of my ferrets litter. Quote Link to post
