Looking For Info About Shotguns And Shooting Them

Recommended Posts

As a starter gun a 12G o/u with 28" barrels with multi chokes and 3" chambers will cover most bases. Never shot a Revo, so cannot comment, but Baikals are well known. Built like a tank and handle like one too. But the main down fall is the stock dimensions. Generally too short in the LOP and too much drop. Unless you are lucky, recoil will be an issue. My advise is that find something more mainstream, then get it fitted. Many people dismiss this, but as you are the back sight of the weapon, it is vital. Bad gun fit is the main reason why someone " cannot get on with" a shotgun and why they yoyo in aand out of gunshops

Good luck

I've been pidgeon shooting for about 15 years now and my preferred gun was a pump action believe it or not, reason being is i had a remington 1100 semi auto 3 shot and although shot cycling was quicker reloading wasnt, if you fired off the third round you had to load two into the magazine cock the lever and load one into chamber and then load another into the magazine making the semi auto more of a two shot.

I've also mainly used 6 1/2 size shot for woodies and over the years i've been able to get close enough to take 5 foxes with the old stevens model 65e which sadly is still broken after trying to source a specific part for it for the past 5 years...have been thinking about getting an fac semi auto for the job but these days i'm more into rabbiting instead decoying and havnt been out this year for woodies.
