Malt 379
parking tickets are a contract....... write on it null and void and send back...... they will send you a few threatening letters like bully's do but just ignore, they soon get the message! the rule to stop all this kind of bullshit is NO COMPLIANCE.... if no one complied there would be no parking tickets... dont pay...Ignore...always Ignore. . .i have collected quite a few now. . they wont take you to court...its a waste of the courts time. If its a private parking company...deffo dont pay. Motoway services are a prime example.. You are right in one respect, but motorway services/private parking companies/etc are a totally different prospect to the council and traffic wardens.. a council/traffic warden has the legal right to fine you and the fines are the same as any other fine like you'd get from a court after being convicted of something. Private parking companies can't fine you, all they can do at most is take you to a court for breach of contract.. I personally wouldn't bother paying a PPC notice, all you are legally obliged to pay to is the amount of money they would have lost by you parking in that space for however long you were there. Say if you were ment to pay £2 for two hours in a private car park.. You didn't pay and stayed there for the whole two hours. You are taking up a space that a paying customer could have used, so you are potentially costing them £2.. That is all you are legally obliged to pay for your supposed breach of contract. If you were sent a letter demanding the stupid amount these companies demand and you offer them a £2 cheque in response which they refused, and then tried taking you to a civil court, your arse would be covered.. In practice though they rely on people paying out on recipt of one of their nasty letters and don't often try to take people to the court to make examples of them. In short, ticket from a council or traffic warden: You're best off paying it.. One off a private company or nasty letter in the post: ignore it or offer them what they are owed, not what they demand..
