Up Dated List of Dog Shows at Monday the 12th August 13. Come on out and enjoy the remaining shows of the the season. List is getting shorter.

 

Richard Hunters Lurcher, Terrier, Whippet Dog Show and Race day this Saturday 17th August 13.

Richard Hunter is holding his dog show this Saturday 17th August 13 in the grounds of Swathragh Mart, Co Derry. All proceeds are going to the Killelagh and St Johns Community Association. All the usual Classes.

Sunday 25th August 13

The All Ireland 32 Counties Champions of Champions will be held at the Wicklow Terrier, Lurcher and Whippet Show in conjunction with the North West Terrier and Lurcher Club,Strabane Co Tyrone on the 25th August in Rathnew Co Wicklow.

The champion Terrier, Lurcher and Whippet on the day will qualify for the All Ireland 32 Counties Champions of Champions, which will take place after the show.

 

Judging will start @ 1pm

The pet show will commence @ 2:30pm

 

There will be flapper racing before the show @ 12pm

 

Admission €5 Entry per dog €2

 

All usual classes...

Please note that all money raised within the Wicklow Terrier, Lurcher and Whippet Show will be donated to the Wicklow Cancer Support Group.

 

Dessie Mackens Dog Show Saturday 31st August 13

Dessie Macken will be holding a show day only ( No racing ) by kind permission of Mr AJ Titterington on Saturday 31st August 13 at Gilford Banbridge Road Full details of venue later). This show will be the 2nd last qualifer for the 5 Nations at Birr Castle.

Irish Game and Country Fair, Birr Castle, Co Offaly 30th, 31stAugust & 1st September 13

Birr Castle Irish Game and Country Fair takes place this year on Saturday 31st August and Sunday 1ST September, and will include all the fun of the fair including the annual Lurcher, Terrier, and Whippet Dog show and Race Day.
This year an extra activity day will be held on the Friday 30thAugust at Birr Castle. ( Full Details Later )

      A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY FRIENDS IN THE COUNTRY SPORTS  ARENA
      As we approach the end to 2025, I would like to reach out and personally thank  all my friends in Country Sports for all  the hard work you  put into  organising our dog show and race days in 2025 for all to enjoy. These were all fantastic events and truly served as a wonderful window for our Country Sports fraternity.
      Days like these at our dog shows in the summer are so important for our community, and your details and dedication to the cause has really shone through. So many charities have benefited over the years and so many new friends made at these get togethers  by like minded people. This was very evident in July this year when the Burren Working Dog Club gave £17,OOO to a charity. What an achievement.
       
      I know there will be some very sad homes  this year,  with places missing at the  dinner table  in  our Country Sports  community. Can I please offer my heartfelt sympathy to all those people , and  hopefully with Gods help you will get through to brighter days ahead.
       
      Many thanks to the McGrath Racing Club Carlow, for a great day out at the 5 Nations and who has travelled north and south of the border to run our racing so efficiently and helped me out on many occasions..  A special word of thanks to Tally Ho ( Peter Morgan ) for keeping the Country Sports window open in the dark days of winter by organising your virtual competitions and giving away so many generous prizes in return. This is so greatly appreciated .
       
      And Finally, to my mentors and long term friends  Mr 5 Nations himself, yes The King of the Castle Albertj Titterington and his lovely wife Irene. Albert it is great to see you getting back to health again, and we look forward to seeing you back on the scene in 2026.
       
      Finally, Finally, may I take this opportunity  to  wish you all North and South of the border and further afield a very Happy Christmas and  Prosperous  New Year.

      Hi folks just an update on our show,
      This show is without doubt Irelands largest fundraising dog show, in only four years of bringing this show back to life, we are very proud to have raised £41000 for cancer related charities…
      This year we returned to Daisy lodge cancer fund for children, a local charity that does amazing work for kids and families affected by cancer….  We smashed last years amount of £14000 to reach an outstanding £17000….  
       
      We would like to thank every person who has supported our show, sponsorsed and donated gifts for an amazing raffle..   We had over £1500s worth of prizes for the raffle….  A very special thanks to Margaret Mcstay for advertising, The legend dog racing team of the McGrath Family, Dwtc for ongoing support, And  Burren working dog show team.. Thanks everyone and roll on 2026….   A show not to miss
