Ireland Sligo Dog Show And Raceday Last Saturday 10Th August 13

Sligo Dog Show and Race day.

 

Located in the scenic area between Ben Bulben mountain and the Atlantic Ocean, lies the village of Grange Co Sligo. This was the venue for last Saturdays Lurcher, Terrier,and Whippet Dog Show . The sun was shining for most of the day, backed up with a wealth of craic and banter . There was a large contingent of Canine folk from Northern Ireland with dogs and trailers in towe.

 

It was not long to the field began to fill up with familys out to enjoy the fun of the fair for the day. Along side the Terrier, Lurcher and Whippet show, Sligo Agriculture Show was taking place. As we arrived early, it was nice to go up through the show and soak up that nice Carnival atmosphere that was ozzing out across the valley.

 

I saw cows, sheep, horses, various stands, water bubbles, bouncy Castles, water slides for the children, and many more attractions, to many to mention. Jimmy Buckley was there to entertain the adults with his songs and music, and all danced away their cares for the day to their hearts content.

 

As I walked around, I noticed Sligo Agriculture Show was also running a various breed dog show. I entered our Whippet Patch, who went on to win her class, and Reserve Agriculture Show Champion. I received 2 bags of meal, a very large Trophy and a rosette. I was one very proud and happy winner.

A big Congratulations to Jack Stewart, with his beautiful dog Dotty, from Mount Charles, who won the Overall Agriculture Show Champion. Jack was anxious that I would say in my write up, that Lucy normally handled the dog, but he did on the day.

Well done Jack and Dotty, and many thanks to the judge.

And Finally, may I take this opportunity to thank the judges , Barry Holland, and the Terrier judge for a jobe well done. Judging is not an easy job, but you carried your duties out very fair on the day. Bluebell ( Deidre Mc Coy) was there recording all our moments of glory. Deidre, not only are you a good photographer, but you are also a good friend. Some lovely photographs Deidre. Looking forward to seeing them all up shortly.

 

And Finally, Finally, the craic and the banter would not of been there, if it had not of been for the organisation skills of this man. Yes,its you Gene Gallagher and and your band of helpers I am speaking about. You made Saturday a special and most enjoyable day for all us Canine folk. We really enjoyed your show and look forward to more of the same next year . Thanks again Gene.
