Dwtc Tom Barrys Show Sunday 28Th July 13 At Feaghbridge Race Track Coalisland

Recommended Posts

Deep in the heart of the beautiful Derrytresk /Coalisland Countryside, with the smell of newly cut turf in the bogs oozing out at us,with the waters from the shore line of magnificent Lough Neagh flowing into our view, This was the scenery that came upon us en route to the Dublin Working Terriers Club dog show and race day Sunday, run by Tom Barry at FeaghBridge Racing Track , Derrytresk, Coalisland.

As we approached the immaculately mown show rings, and well rolled sandy race track, all in mint condition, it was evident there was going to be a very big turnout of Lurchers, Terriers, Whippets, and Strong Dogs attending this well organised show. I am told there was a large amount of Terriers and Lurchers, along with strong Dogs and Whippets. All counts are well up on last years show. What a turnout. It was nice to see so many families out for a days enjoyment with all their canine friends in tow. The wee people had a ball also. First of all with Leanne Barrys Burgers , which were simply delicious, Mr Whippys ice Cream to die for, and after the racing was over building sand castles in the sand on the race track. Some tired little feet at home time. Good job school holidays are still in force. A big sleep in next morning.

It was nice to see so many show goers at this show, and also some new people making their debut into the canine world. You were all so very welcome. That is why I love the show scene and doing my show write ups. I meet so many nice appreciative and interesting people along the way, who love their dogs and love to hunt, show, talk, and race them in the appropriate seasons of the year.

The sun beamed down all day, with the exception of a few showers in the evening. The show began at approximately 12.45, with the racing first.

Finally, may I take this opportunity on behalf of the DWTC , to thank the Merseyside Terrier and Lurcher Club for a great days judging. Raymond Crilly Whippets/ Curtis Nicholls Lurchers/Kevin Legsy Terriers. Lads your judging was firm but fair, and you were meticulous in your judgement. Many thanks to you all for making the journey to Coalisland. It was very much appreciated. Also many thanks to Peter Dobbs for Judging Strong Dogs and Hounds, and John Barry for judging the Pet Class. You all were top class on the day.

Billy Harpur was there with his camera recording all our moments of glory. Many thanks for that Billy. Look forward to seeing them up on Facebook and Hunting life soon. Tom Barry made presentations to Billy Harpur, Michelle Rafferty and Leanne Hawthorne for their help on show day. Congratulations and well deserved. Also Tom, many thanks for your kindness to John and myself. It was much appreciated.

And Finally, Finally, It was evident a lot of hard work, muscle and sleepless nights had gone into making this show a most enjoyable family day out for young and old. This would not of been possible without Tom Barry DWTC and show organiser, his lovely wife Leanne, children Morgan and Ethan and their hard working committee. All your hard work paid off on the day. Of this we are all truly thankful. Tom I can assure you from the bottom of my heart, I will always do my best for your show, and all shows and Game Fairs on the Island of Ireland, and hopefully for many more years to come. Thanks for an enjoyable and successful day on Sunday. Already looking forward to next years show.

A Tribute to the late John Shaw who passed away  last Thursday 6th November 25

      I Am Free
Do not grieve for me now my  friends and family, I am free
I am following the path God Laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To Love, to live, to hunt, to show my treasured Whippets, or play.
I found a peace at close of day.
Be not burdened with the times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Do not lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts my friends and share with me
      God wanted me now,
      He set me free.
John, we will love you forever and you will be sadly missed by your loving family and all your Country Sporting Fraternity and in the show ring.
May the Angels above give you the best seat in Heaven and may your gentle soul rest in peace.
      For Country Sports Fraternity
