As the rain pelted on our window pain on Sunday morning, it could not dampen our spirits, or our intention to be at the Sporting Whippet Club NI 3rd Dog Show and Race day of the year. The Dog Chorus rang out loud and clear as the trailer came out of the garage, making us humans very much aware,it was the Whippets day out at Dunsilly Co Antrim.

 

There was a good turn out, despite the bad weather. The show ring was in immaculate condition, This we have to be very thankful to Victor Mc Donald,owner of Dunsilly Kennells and Race track. Victor has a heart of gold and is a very good friend to the Sporting Whippet Club.It was nice to meet up with some old friends on Sunday, and also to meet up with some new ones.

 

I had the pleasure of having a great wee chat with Denis Couch,Jason Murray and Stephen Clarke ,all keen Country Sportsmen and lovely friendly people to talk to. Beleive it or not these 3 men travelled all the way yesterday from Ballyphehane, Co Cork, down there "On the Banks of my own lovely Lee" to the Sporting Whippet Club Show at Dunsilly Co Antrim. I am sure you are all very tired men today after the long journey home last night. But honestly, you were all so welcome here up North. Hope we will see you and all your friends and your beautiful Whippets back at Dunsilly shortly again, now you know the way. There will always be a welcome on the matt for you and everybody who would like to bring their Whippets along to our Whippet Shows.

 

The show began at approximately 12.30. ( Full results on the Sporting Whippet Club site ) A Big congratulation to Carol Hill on winning Overall Best in Show with her beautiful Whippet, and Janet Boyce who travelled from Donegal, on winning the members Class Well done to both. That Vermin Catcher was also winning again yesterday,with that beautiful pup. Graham, you and your family are a pleasure to be with, great fun and a good sport . Congratulations on your win.Tracy Gill and Bluebell were there clicking away with their cameras. Hopefully the photographs will be up soon.

 

Many thanks to Gary Kane for judging yesterday. Judging is not an easy job, but Gary you carried out your duties most efficiently and fair and many thanks for that.

 

And Finally, may I take this opportunity to thank Janet Duke and her committe for another great day of craic, banter,showing ,racing and above all great commardrie. A great day was had by all.

It was great to see all you newcomers at the Sporting Whippet event on Sunday Dennis, and lovely to get chatting to you , you are obviously as passionate about your whippets as I am . You have some lovely dogs continued success with them , and I hope we will see you all again up here soon.
