Guest little_lloyd
I was out fishing on my local River on Sunday evening and noticed these prints on the bank. I know there was a big dog mink active on this stretch a few weeks ago untill the minkhounds arived. An otter would be my next suggestion but there was no tail drag mark And otters have not been sighted here. Beside the pic is my standard sized pen knife. Any ideas? EDITED TO SAY I SOR THE SAME PRINT BUT MUCH SMALLER UP STREAM A BIT ABOUT 15 YARDS AWAY. Edited August 15, 2007 by little_lloyd

If that is a 75-85mm penknife its an otter...........or brerminky!!!
Simoman 110
Can you get a bigger photo up? Look too big for mink prints...
mole catcher 1
to me they look like an otters print of its fore feet. main differance apart from size would be the webbing between toes(otter) the toe pads on an otters are oblong rather than rounded the main pad on an otter have a bit missing on the rear side and are wider than those of a minks in relation to the foot size, a minks running pad in the same shape as a dogs claw imprints on a mink tend to be more slender than that of an otter. shame you cant get a better pic, try and find some prints of the hind feet as these differ greatly between mink and otter. my moneys on it being an otter
