Ferrets In Kit

Recommended Posts

I have two Jills that should be having their litters in around a week or so. They are both very placid with the bigger Jill who has had a previous litter is just taking it all in her stride. The second Jill who is quite small and dainty will be a first time mum and looks like she cant be carrying more than a few kittens. She is normally of an excellent temperament but has now gone very defensive. I got a nip yesterday while changing her bedding and then this morning she connected with the back of my finger and tried to get a proper grip drawing blood in the process, not that I am all that bothered of course as its expected when you have stinkers in kit plus I remember what my wife was like during pregnancy. lol. She has also gone a bit raggedy coat wise, not eating much meat preferring the dry mix and is lethargic (until I put my hand in).

Like I said, the bigger Jill is completely fine and although she looks like she is going to burst just wants to be handled and her coat is just as plush as always.

What differences have you guys noticed when your ferrets are in kit? Have they behaved out of character or picked up any unusual habits?

Cheers

Pat

You might find the same as a woman there uncomfortable and its too hot for them and they will eat little and often stick in a bottle 3/4 filled with frozen water
