Florence Court Country Fair, Dog Show And Race Day Last Sunday 26Th May 13

Recommended Posts

Florence Court was the place to be last Sunday 26th May at the Annual Dog Show and Race Day as part of the Florence Court Country Fair. The venue was excellent , and was a very welcoming family day out in the beautiful surroundings of this 18th-century property, and the former home of the Earls of Enniskillen. The house enjoys a peaceful setting in West Fermanagh, with a dramatic backdrop of the Cuilcagh mountains and forests and has charming walled gardens. Every aspect of life in this classical Irish house, with its fine interiors and exquisite decoration, are brought to life on some very fascinating guided tours. Quite a few of our Canine folk availed of this extra attraction on the day.

The crowd began to file in around 11.am, and very soon the car park was filled to capacity, for what was to be a very well run and enjoyable Dog Show and Race Day.

There was a barbeque in the Courtyard, a Bouncy Castle, and Jugglers on stilts to entertain the children. The sun shone most of the day, with some light showers in the evening. The Showing began at approximately 1.00pm, followed by the Racing immediately afterwards. Here are the Results.

And Finally, May I take this opportunity to thank the Judges on the day, Charlene Rafferty - Whippets/Kirsty Harpur - Lurchers/Terry Moore - Terriers /Childs Handling Class – Margaret Mc Stay/ Lee Archer and Melissa - Gent/Ladies Handling Class /Pets Class

A job well done by all, firm but fair. Many thanks to photographer Mark Patterson and of course Bluebell, Deidre Mc Coy for capturing our moments of glory. Looking forward to seeing these photographs up on the forms shortly.

And last but not least, Many thanks to Ian Greer, and his team of helpers, Nigel Greer, Arlene Richardson, Melissa, Stacey and Lee Archer. Ian as you know, organising a show is not an easy task, but you and your team carried it out without a hitch and made it a truly magical day out for Canine folk, friends and family. Ian I admire your professionalism and your style of organisation, and hopefully it will not be to long to we see more of the same again. I must say I really enjoyed Florence Court this year, as I have done in years gone past. Thanks to all the team for a great day.

A Tribute to the late John Shaw who passed away  last Thursday 6th November 25

      I Am Free
Do not grieve for me now my  friends and family, I am free
I am following the path God Laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To Love, to live, to hunt, to show my treasured Whippets, or play.
I found a peace at close of day.
Be not burdened with the times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Do not lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts my friends and share with me
      God wanted me now,
      He set me free.
John, we will love you forever and you will be sadly missed by your loving family and all your Country Sporting Fraternity and in the show ring.
May the Angels above give you the best seat in Heaven and may your gentle soul rest in peace.
      For Country Sports Fraternity
