SNAP SHOT 194
So my holiday's nearly up decided to call the lads, it was about 10 o clock. It was confirmed there and then we would be heading out, I arrived at the lads house passing some small scattered sowers on the way, and praying that it would stay dry We decided to go to the lads field near the shore front......Lamping the field nothing in sight...Until On approaching the lower end of the field and lamping the shore 3 foxes. Yes I'll say that again, 3 foxes nosing about the seaweed. I couldn't believe it. Two were fairly close to one another at a range of 327 yards... and the other was at 10 o clock to me at 130 yards. Tactics were the order of the day... deciding to go for the longer range shot first the lamp went on, a quick range 321 yards looking for the closer fox not a budge from him 133 yards, consulting the drop tables 15 clicks for the longer one and 2 for the closer. decided to give him a range of about 150 cause whenever i took a pop at the first i knew he would be off running. :clapping: Lamp on, scope set to 8x to find the second fox quicker..... Tactics i tell ye Then BANG the light went to the second fox who was going hell for leather over all the stones of the day, quickly droped my clicks to two and a quick call from one of the lads and he stopped. BANG Down he went... To describe the scene it's a rocky shore front in the middle of nowhere. seaweed clinging to all the rock's. when your looking for your kill with a lamp on the shore be warned................The seaweed and the rocks make everything blend in........... Tom got the first ranged and 164 yards..... Now for the longest shot ,of the lads headed with my head torch and large light...... Nothing looking at were the two had been close to each other. 15 minutes passed and we were giving up, i shouted the lads to stay put, Ranging them they had been out to far at nearly 400 yards i told them to walk in closer, After a few minutes searching there he was..... relief Two out of three on the one spot. The third more than likely about kerry at this stage We were chuffed.. Off we headed not seeing another soul.... Then the mizzle started (fine rain).... seen nothing for nearly two hour's. TEMPER'S nearly at the boil at this stage the window got a knock, Thinking to myself thank christ as my ass was getting numb!!!!! sitting between the two seats on a coat. mizzle starting to get heavy out we got, there he was just sitting on a large rock...... like a king, 282 yards, and he was dethroned KING Approaching 2:30 at this stage we decided to head for home, Happy but extremely wet...... Still lamping from the confine's of the jeep, 5 min's from the lad's house we couldn't believe our eye's, A fox trailing a wild goose over the field, laughing and wishing we had a camera with us. He must of heard us and took off, we kept the lamp off for a few min's and again his belly must of got the better of him, ranging at 263 down he went....... WHAT A NIGHT...... Quote Link to post
