One Man And.....one Of His Dogs

Recommended Posts

Jet is suffering a cut wrist so have left him in for a few days.. took tyson out tonight just before dark.

It was nice and quiet not a breath of wind some may say not an old poachers favourite weather as things can be heard from afar.

Anyway i was not poaching so all was fine.

I walked up the lonning with tyson off the lead and got to the fields and put him on the slip.... i walked through the gateway and headed straight across to the hedge by the woodsde. Looking down field i spotted a nice lump of a rabbit. So i dropped to my knees.

He didnt see or smell me and carried on grazing away. It must of been 300 yards away at first sight. I stalked down the hedgerow for 100yards still going undetected.

I got to tye halfway point and bingo he walked over a brow.. he was now out of sght and more importantly i was out of his sight. All i needed to do now was be quiet and carry on..

Anyway i got down to 50 yards id reckon and took my chance. I let tyson off and he was straight up. The course headed straight to the bottom to the cover but the rabbit doubted the fence and doubled back

Coming straight at me about 10yards from me he twisted straight through the fence. Followed by tyson i tried running to the top to get in the next field. Alas i was too late the sound of contact could be heard. That awful rabbit squeal

I had to just brave it and make my own way through the thick hedgerow and deal with things.

A real nice walk in good company (my own)

Got back to the motor just before dark
