Very Nice.... went to go find some myself in a place i photgraphed them 3 or 4 years ago.,...the place is totally overgrown with willow now....no blues..... :(:blink::cry:

get them on rough /wastey ground round this way jd.and like most butterflies/ wildlife, i have found they are wary as hell of eye contact [my theory anyway] i always try and get the camera to my eye as quick as poss then move in. after i have given them time to settle but its like owt trial and error by the way what camera settings you using. my settings as follows is manual = flash on =iso=200/400=aperture=13/16 =speed=x two length of lens =canon 60mm macro =125

been experimenting with the DOF, trying to push it up whilst over exposing a little. Just trialing a few things. The butterflies i have had success with have mostly been stalked at ground level, i.e me on hands and knees and slowly ...thats why i got myself a monopod.... :yes: run a few off thats been 125 on the 150mil lense and they arent too bad....will know more at weekend...just looking for a ring flash now... :drink:
