glenng 15 Posted April 20, 2013 Report Share Posted April 20, 2013 my two sprocker pups have started to yap when they are running.they are both just under 10 months old and i am training them seperately.they are both totally quiet when in the kennel.i thought at first they were just over excited but now im not so sure.will they grow out of this when they mature or do i need to nip this in the bud?. ftm 3,357 Posted April 20, 2013 Report Share Posted April 20, 2013 cockers are excitible little buggers at the best of times i reckon its a bit of frusration & excitement mate probably when close on game /rabbits etc and i think it might be a bit of a job stopping it it could be competition between the two as to who gets closest to said rabbit etc -im sure one of the lads on here will help -atb billy Quote Link to post

In situations such as the like of this I would try to let the pups burn off a little energy earlier if possible the smell and sight of game is overloading an already excited pup , A play round or a good walk if you know you are going out later or some form of a good burn out just to take the edge off them so that the energy issue doesn't arise They will settle down as they mature when prey losses it's novelty value to them it's the same with all young things their excitement of the world is engrossing for them 1 Quote Link to post
