Malt 379
Here you go: I live in St. Ishmaels to the west. To the north of the village called Herbrandston is the Murco refinery, to the south the South Hook LNG terminal. Across the water to the south is the Valero refinery and next to the village called Waterston in the east is the Dragon LNG terminal. 25% of the UK's gas comes in to those two LNG depots in liquid form. In America those transfer hubs have to be out at sea or at least 50 miles away from population centres, we've got two right on our doorstep.. If one of them went bang, it would make a pretty loud noise and a dent in the landscape! an explosion in Valero smashed shop windows in Millford Haven a few years back and a bigger one about 15 years ago ripped roofs off the village of the houses in Rhoscrowther. Most of the people left that village after that, it's like a ghost town now..

Malt 379
This happened when I was a kid at one of the local refineries. I've spoken to a few blokes who were firemen at the time or still are about it, they reckon it was the scariest fire they've ever tackled. http://www.fireservice.co.uk/history/amoco-refinery See where they're talking about the crude oil tank 'boil over?' Just imagine a chip pan fire with a f***ing big chip pan full of 56,000 gallons of boiling hot oil! One of the blokes who's boy goes to football with my lad was there and is still a fireman, was talking about it a few weeks back at football.
