gnasher16 31,432
....Think i remember you saying something about his style of tackling....not alot of sliding, more of a block tackle and away with the ball. I'm sure thats what that idiot Baw was trying to get at..... Bobby Moore was the King of the world in my eyes.....always will be..............." a man with the class to wipe the mud off his hands.......before accepting the World Cup off the queen " ...I always thought summed him up perfectly. Ive never met a football fan with 1 bad word to say about the man....................dont go and be the first will you theres a good lad Edited April 9, 2013 by gnasher16

baw 4,360
Do you know who I think will be an excellent manager in years to come, Steven Gerrard. He will get respect from the players, knows how a game ticks, has shown his leadership qualities in the CL final, seems intelligent. Mind when he's successful, think back and remember, you heard it here first I See What Your Saying . . But . . Remember Roy Keane .. I Said The Same About Him ! Similar Qualities To Gerrard And He Failed Miserable . . I Think Todays Players Can't Cope With Criticism And Thats Where Keane Failed , Cloughie Would Off Struggled With Todays Pampered Stars . . Imagine Him Managing Balotelli %) Roy keane is a bully though whereas if anything, Gerrard might be too quiet. But I get your point. Having skill with your right foot doesn't mean you can read a game, get the most from players, deal with egos, tactics, etc. jock Stein wasn't much of a player but he knew how to win. He was a hard manager too, his last words to Alan Rough in the Scotland game when he died was, your on ya fat b*****d at halftime when our goalkeeper Leighton had to come off cos he lost a contact lens. You could get away with that back then and maybe Keane would have been better suited to that era. When men were men not millionaire premadonnas

baw 4,360
Isn't the Premier League all about money and not a great deal about football? It is the worst thing that could have happened to English football by a country mile. Things started sliding downhill when the government stuck it's nose in and they discarded the three foreign players rule and opened the gates for full teams to be made up of a mixture of nationalities. The only reason they did this was to attract the big names so they could sell the rights to the games around the globe. I don't know how you can say the teams do not go out to "win at all costs" because the players will try and get into a position of wining a free-kick in a certain area rather than pressing for an open play goal. They had to bring in the rule for referees given the right to book a player for play acting because it got too much to watch, still is when they feel the slightest brush and go down. I wonder if they are constantly having to pick themselves up off the pavement when walking through London and peopel brush against them or come within 6-inch of them? To be honest I do not feel the title of "English Premier League" is a correct description because there is very little English about it. The Premeir League has ripped the morals and values out of English football thanks to government politics, tv rights, advertising and the whole pathetic circus of money spinning crap that goes with it. It used to be thought of as "the poor man's game" as ticket prices were pittance but now a ticket can cost you a minimum of £15 and upwards into the hundreds. The romance of the game has gone completely because a team that has the right team spirit can not come from nowhere if they stick together and win the title because it is the team with a bit of spirit but ultimately the biggest bank balance that will rule the roost. I will not miss football one bit if I never saw anyone kick a ball again and that is coming from someone who had a football on the end of their boot everyday until about 5years ago. What happened 5 years ago, did you sell the boot? They broke, the ball fell off of them and it got picked up by someone else but when I went to get it back they chucked themselves on the deck and rolled around in excrutiating agony. I wouldn't have minded but I was barely near them and just thought "this isn't much of a game" then walked away. I know what your saying mate. Happened to my team against moriniho Porto in uefa cup final. Players rolling for 15 yards..... I was watching it the other week looking to see who would put a tackle in. 70 minutes, all players immaculate..... Tackle, whistle, tackle whistle, defenders scared to come off there feet. Standing blocking is the new form of tackle. Oh dear.......bet Gnasher is thinking about Bobby Moore again.............. " Standing blocking ".... ..............Only a Jock could come out with that ......................Ask Pele who was the greatest defender he ever played against .........hence West Ham are " Moore than just a football club " ....Think i remember you saying something about his style of tackling....not alot of sliding, more of a block tackle and away with the ball. I'm sure thats what that idiot Baw was trying to get at..... block tackle is a winch used to lift car engines out lol. You know what I mean, hardly any sliding tackles, defenders prefer running and blocking.

No A Bully Is Someone Who Goes After The Weak And Keane Never Did That ! Remember Vieira Bullying Neville In The Tunnel At Highbury Who Was Down The Tunnel In A Shot Defending Neville . . Good Story On Jock Stien Though ! Your right, bully is the wrong terminology, a true hard man would be better. Stein was an amazing man, his will to win in every little detail proved that. Before our European win, stein had won the first battle before a ball was kicked..... The battle of the dugouts lol. He sent someone out to sit in the best dugout before the match. He always made sure he had the upper hand
