Nathan89 0
I've been shooting a Logun Axsor .22 since I was about 18. I've never had any problem with sighting the scope in to around 35 yards. But recently I purchased a new air arms S410f classic .22 and fitted a nikko sterling night eye ir ao scope to it. On taking it out for the first time to sight the scope in I couldn't get the crosshairs to line up with the point of impact from the pellet. With the elevation turret set all the way 'up' the point of impact was still below the cross hairs. But still when I turn the elevation turret all the way down the point of impact is still one mildot below the crosshairs! Has anyone got any help or advice on this because I'm puzzled on why this is happening. Thanks Nathan Quote Link to post
mhopton 807
No recall so sights should not be jumping' try some more sights if its the same , barrel could be bent or if they ok the sights could be broken Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
Sounds like you might need to put a shim under the scope on the rear mount. 1 Quote Link to post
Nathan89 0
Thanks for the advice. Could you tell me the best thing to shim it with? Nathan Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
Depends on how much shimming is required. Can be anything from a sliver of film negative, to a piece of electrical tape. I've even used a slice of shotgun cartridge. You need to experiment front and back with different thicknesses till you get it nearly right before you start fine adjusting the scope. Nathan89 0
I'm off out tomorrow afternoon providing rain holds off so will give that a go and let you know how it goes. Thanks for the help Nathan Quote Link to post
Lewis Ste 245
Have a look on the bottom of your mounts and one should have a tiny recoil screw this one should be at the back and is a fraction bigger than the other Quote Link to post
Nathan89 0
Well needless to say the rain didn't stop all day. But did manage to get out into an old barn about 25yards long for an hour to sight up. I manage to find some old film negative so cut two pieces of that and shimmed the rear scope mounting. After resetting the scope turrets and taking a shot the point of impact was thankfully higher than the cross hairs. With the rifle in a secure hold I turned the elevation and wind age turrets to line the cross hairs up with the point of impact from the pellet. I'll wait till the rain holds off to adjust it to 35 yards and do the fine adjustment but it'll do for the meantime. Thanks for all your help much appreciated. Nathan Quote Link to post
