BORDERSCOT 3,816
Hi All, We have a rescue Lurcher (not idea of cross) and we started feeding on James Wellbeloved, which seemed to get him into great condition, got some weight (muscle) on him, but it's bleedin expensive at around forty quid a bag. Have since tried a bag of Redmills Racer which appears to be ok, a lot cheaper. I have now read that this is probably not the best and Gain 20/28 might be better. He's not a 'working' dog although he does go after wabbits and the occaisional deer if we don't see them first! He gets plenty of off lead running every day. Just looking for any other foods I should consider. Does Gain give managable stools? (Nothing worse than trying to bag a steaming pile of slurry!) Also, anywhere online I can get it without getting stung for shipping? (I found Lawson's so far) Cheers, Richard. Oh dear - that coursing deer thing is against the law that...be careful...you ever thought about feeding raw or partly raw? I feed both raw and complete...the more raw you feed the less shit you'll have to deal with...feed them the venison...sure that will pass for raw...

He only chases deer if they come in the garden or if we litterally fall over them out on his walk and we don't get the chance to get his lead on. I reckon you get about one and a half seconds after he sees them to get a recall in. I might see if the local farmshop and butchers can do a deal on chicken necks etc... Just out of interest, how much raw would you feed a 26kg dog, 3 years old, 27 inches tts. Not a 'worker' ? I guess it depends on the fat content of the meat? cheers all.
