Acuspell 329
Oh, you support the Pensioners! they did well in the cup didn't they........! Sorry, I believe in supporting local - and \I am a rugby man really and just have a passing interest in the tribal battles. What is it about football that attracts all the low lifes? Not all supporters are low lifes, but all low lifes are football supporters! You don't get arguing with the ref in rugby and people don't pretend they are hurt when they aen't - CHEATING it is called (the low lifes would say it was playing the game....because they are low lifes!) Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
Hey, Bradford Boy....sorry to see you lose by so many yesterday, but you did well to get to the Final in the first place, so don't feel downhearted. A marvellous achievment to get there. Canadas - they are not on the General license. They are on OPEN LICENSE, which means you do not have to prove other methods of control have failed first. There is a difference - don't start putting things on General License that are on the Open License for Pete's sake. Yes, to both your questions. You can legally shoot them with your air rifle, provided you have the necessary permission. I would approach the farmer and say you are capable and willing to reduce the goose numbers for him. Would he please clarify your authority in writing, in case anyone questions it. You were confused, so what do you think the general public know of all this. A letter of authority will be good to have anyway. You can explain the damage they do - he will already know! But it shows understanding on your part. The rules you have to operate under are: You must not cause iunecessary suffering. So ACCURATE head shots only. Aim for the back of the eye, a smashed beak is not a pretty sight - I have seen it from a friend who came to give a hand. Thankfully I managed to finish the distressed creature off. We were very lucky it didn't fly off in that state. This is going to be your biggest problem/worry. Make sure you are absolutely pinpoint accurate with your shots before taking one on. You cannot sell any geese you shoot. That is the same for all geese. You may give them away, but the only people likely to want them are kennels! Retrieve all shot geese, even if you have to strip off and swim for them. Don't leave carcasses lying around. Don't shoot once they are sitting. They are just starting to pair up and get in the mood now. In 3 or 4 weeks they will be sitting, so then it is time to leave them alone. When they have goslings at foot, if you are callous enough to shoot then, make sure you shoot all the goslings from that brood too - it is cruel to leave orphans that cannot fend for themselves and you would be leaving yourself open for a charge of causing unecessary suffering. It is not easy recognising which goslings belong to which pair once they huddle up for safety! I WOULD SUGGEST YOU DO AS I DO AND LEAVE THEM UNTIL THEY ARE GROWN. That's about it really. im a capable shot mate, 3 shots on a chewing gum at 40 yards with my 97.. they all sit in the field under the pylon, its a bit boggy but obviously i wont be leaving dead geese around.. im not a di*khead either, i might come accross as one sometimes like.. but there is a primary school a few hundred yards away, and they can see into this field from the playground.. so if i do shoot these geese then im going to try be stealthy about it if possible also there is a kennel just down the road, if i offered them (obviously not for a price) the geese would they take them whole, or would they want them plucked/skinned/gutted, do you think? one last thing, say i shoot 5/6 and the others stay there but i dont shoot anymore.. when i go to collect them do you think the rest would try atttack me?? lol Quote Link to post

You don't get arguing with the ref in rugby and people don't pretend they are hurt when they aen't - CHEATING it is called (the low lifes would say it was playing the game....because they are low lifes!) its not as if im a massive die hard footy fan... lol i just like chelsea because blue is my favorite color and about 12-15 yrs ago all my mates were into footy and i felt left out so i asked which teams had a blue kit. narrowed it down to everton or chelsea and i chose chelsea. ive been to watch city a couple of times at valley parade with my mates. but just as a 1 off kinda thing. i used to goto bradford bulls every week when i was young.. best memory being 1.) the first game i went to see they destroyed the other team and scored 100+ and 2.) falling off a wall backwards at st helens ground lol. that hurt aswell Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
also if i shot 50 geese and needed to get rid of the carcasses, where should i dispose of them?, the farmer doesnt have an incinerator.. should i dig a large hole and bury them? Quote Link to post
Acuspell 329
Chelsea or Everton...wise choice methinks! You would have to ask the kennel first. I would find a use for the geese first if I were you. You CANNOT just bury them, they have ot be disposed of through the agricultural waste route if you can't use them. Just go and ask them. Dog breeders, greyhound kennel, know any lurcher/terrier men? Hunt kennels? You could have a bit of fun and ask the local RSPCA dog pound place! Canine defenc eleague or other animal re-homing place might be glad of some food - OR it might be more trouble than its worth if thye don't have the staff or facilities to deal with them. You have to ask to find out. Going in to collect them - they will fly off, or just keep waddling out of range. They won't attack you, they are not farmyard geese, which will, on occassions go for strangers. Edited February 25, 2013 by Acuspell Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
Il do some reasearch before i go in all guns blazing then. lol. might just get 1or 2 for myself and let the rest live. there not a MASSIVE problem to my farmer anyway. just because there there and can be shot doesnt mean i have to, like people say. Cheers SKoT Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
and i think the kennel down the road is where people send dogs and cats when they go on holiday. so they probly already have 'proper' dog/cat food or the pet owners will probly bring their own.
