shropshire-lad 9
Hi just abit of help, I have been out with some one that does pest control for a living, he as been asking me he would like to help me get my shotgun certificate so this is what i need too know. Would i be able to put it to say my girl friends address as for a member of my family would stop me putting it to my address.I have no criminal convictions and i havent been diagnosed with any mental issues, my question is though if it has been recorded that i once went through a episode of depression about a year ago would this result in refusal Edited February 22, 2013 by shropshire-lad Quote Link to post
halamrose 24
Best off talking to them, if your family members issues is with guns in general then maybe you could have your GF get a shotgun cirtificate as well and share her safe. If your family member has an issue with you having a gun then that will be more interesting. Bottom line is for shotguns the police have to have a reason not to give you a cirtificate. I't a slightly differant game with rifles. In any case the police will get a medical report from your doctor, you could talk to them and ask them what they would say to the police. Given the time it can take to get over depression a year doesn't seem long. Worst case is you get your fees back. Quote Link to post
shropshire-lad 9
So do you get your money back if they say no. What it is one member of the family she is 39 years old and all ways in and out of prison and i dont have anything to do with her at all, so was going to see if i could keep it a my gf address, and i will have a word with the gp and see what he says. SportingShooter 0
Does the troublesome family member live at your address or just a close family member? Ultimately the question here is "access". You could keep your guns in a friends property providing only you have access to the cabinet, in theory anyway and I've known shared users do this often. Your girlfriends address would be suitable if it met the other requirements of security as I'm guessing she's more of a long term partner than just girlfriend if she's going to let you keep guns at her address. Access to the keys and cabinet is still what will be questioned. Depression can result in a refusal but there are a lot of former sufferers out there with shotgun certificates. It all depends on your doctor and whether he is happy you're over it. And yes if you aren't granted a certificate, your cheque is refunded. SS Quote Link to post
