Taz-n-Lily 62
Had the young dog out this morning for his usual walk at daybreak. I thought there may be a chance of a rabbit in one of the fields I take him too. There's usually 3 or 4 sat next to the hedge which I don't encourage him to run at, because they are long gone by the time he reaches them, There's a riverbank on one side of the field though, and that can sometimes have a sitter which will run across the open field and give him a chance. So we stopped at the edge of the field and while I'm changing his lead into a slip he spots a rabbit by the hedge 50/60 yards away - off he shoots like a rocket, and misses his rabbit. One low whistle from me and he's back beside me like a second skin - as though he'd never been away. We're doing mostly recall training at the moment - this was perfect! I know this may not seem a big deal to the more experienced dog-people on here - for me though, watching this dog come on is pure magic! 4 Quote Link to post
