CallumDonohoe 65
just after some advice about my dog i think she has a bad wrist i was walking her along side the bike in October when she yelped and was holding her front left paw up tryed to get her to walk but she wouldnt she limped for a couple of days then was ok then for the last month a could tell it was bad again as when she was walking she was droping low on that side at a trot although i have had her out lamping a few times without her being lame i had her out last week and next morning she was limping/holding her paw up if i let her off her lead she will take off like a rocket but the more she runs on it you can see her limping on it more i have looked for thorns but cant see anything i have put pressure on every toe wiggled them and no sign of pain bent her paw up towards he forearm same no pain i have felt her her legs together and there is no difference in feel or look any suggestions what it could be a might have to take her to the vets for an xray could they see if it was arthritis she is six years old maybe its an old injury coming back with age what do you think taking the dog to vets around me is a waste of time they havent got a clue
Taz-n-Lily 62
I think do a proper examination yourself then report back. Are you certain nothing is in the pads or between the toes? Check each joint (inc toes) up the the shoulder gently going through joint range of motion. also press gently around each joint to see if there is any old injury (adhesions or scar tissue ) which might be causing the dog pain. She should be fine at six (unless she did a lot of jumping too young)................... Edited February 6, 2013 by Taz-n-Lily
sandymere 8,263
As above and just to add if it is a wrist injury thats gone on so long then it is likely to continue so its worth seeking an alternative cause and treating if theres any possibility that there is one. There are a lot of wristy dogs about as its a very complex joint that once injured tends to have a likelihood of ongoing problems. I had a nice dog some years ago that was wristy could only run him once every 10 days. Was a job to keep him fit but he caught his fair share of long ears.
