Never had a carbine barrelled gun, maybe they are inherrantly more noisy at the muzzle. To be honest I find my target barreled ruger 77/22 to be whiper quite, that has a SAK, the 1 before was the same gun but standard barreled and with a parker hale, I didn't notice any change when I swapped.
