whippet vs hare

Recommended Posts

In the pictures I posted earlier, the fawn whippet is the Quixand and the brindle dog is out of Tony's whippets. The Quixand female is faster but the Lyth male is the better hunter. His downfall is most likely going to be impaling himself on something as he hits the bush hard and can hold a track for a good while. I was lamping around my property a couple of weeks ago and he slammed into a fallen tree. It sounded like someone dropped a boulder on the ground. He squealed for a good 30 seconds before calming down. I put him up for a week and he fine but I thought I was down to one whippet for a bit.

The Lyth dog tears the crap out of rabbits no matter the size. Once he's got them he's not munching on them but he hits them hard enough to tear them dang near in half. I'm hoping he lightens up as he gets more experience because he's making them hard to clean.

The Lyth dog (21 1/2") is 17 months old now and the Quixand female (23") is 11 months. I agree with the longtime whippet owners on here. They are really something to see work even if they are a bit light for fox.
