martnmagik 68
looking for a touch of advice ! my 13 month old pup has turnd skitish and very nervy while out walking by roads, she is fine while working and in fields but has over the last few weeks turned into a nightmare to walk by roads, it isnt a new thing as 70% of there her walks have always been by busy roads since being 12 weeks old, if she had been hit by a car or made to feel nervous by a lets say a close crash, horns etc i could understand it but none of this has happend and its getting to the point where it is nearly impossible to walk her as she just keeps jumping around like a retarded kangaroo on the lead. pinguu 169
Have you tried a harness? maybe along with some tit bit treats, the harness may just help you control her bouncing around and treats obviously as reward, not saying it will fix your problem but it may help mate Atb Quote Link to post
chartpolski 27,360
In my opinion, harness' are worse than useless; they give none of the control a well fitting collar gives. Control the dogs head and you control the dog ! As for your problem, all I can advise is keep the dog around traffic and keep talking to it and re-assuring it, don't shout or get angry or treat it harshly. Hopefully it will come around; good luck ! Cheers. Quote Link to post
