First rabbit

Recommended Posts

Well pleased with my pup for catching her first rabbit :clapper: yesturday but the only trouble was that I didn't see the catch!

I wondered if she had actually caught it herself :hmm: because its guts were hanging out but I got her to drop it and I had a closer look. It was definatley alive only seconds before as it was still warm.

I just hope she isn't going too be hard mouthed. She nailed it big time!

Cheers, Jon

wat would every1 say that the right age is to start working a lurcher i.e ferreting and easy rabbits right out in the feild

it all depends on the individual dog itself, but work on a regular basis probs 14month upwards

I'd say its up to you mate. It's your dog!

Do what you want when you want but beware.............

All lurchers are different so you can not say a particular age.

Just be sensible about it and think about the long run. Many useful dogs will be f****d up with premature entering. Push them to hard and you risk injury, the dog opening up etc.

My pup is 9 months goin on 10.
