j1985 1,984
You said killing not who gets there first, think me and you are on two different wave lengths mate. Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
Don't be fooled thinking you need bull in it to have jaw power an strength. Bottom line is, a greyhound can kill quicker than any dog, second to that would probably be a slightly built deerhound an that only because the greyhound gets there first lol ask someone to take you out with a dog with deerhound traits lol You contradict yourself there mate. First you are saying you don't need bull for jaw power and strength, then follow up by saying a greyhound can kill quicker than any dog. Implying that the greyhound has the same jaw power and strength as a bull cross? Then you say the greyhound gets there first? But not if there are plenty of turns and bends, I reckon the whippet would Quote Link to post
robwelsh 354
I'm not implying f**k all. What I am saying is a greyhound is hell of a lot quicker than any bull x, I don't care how u try to water it down. 80lb greyhound running 45mph plus , gripping something of 15lb? Lol not alot will live with it. As for the whippet Ye, on edible game but youwouldnt go out an buy a whippet for something u need jaw power an strength, although they are mad little fuckers. With a greyhound bred back into an already bull x , your not loosing speed, power or f**k all? Basically what I ment by what I said is, greyhound is a lot faster, diffrent "powerfully built" lol some whippets kill foxes , so why not choose a bigger sihthound rather than breeding more bull into it? Can you see what I'm saying now? Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
Yeh I see what your saying now. That's not what you said before though, even if that's what you meant. It's easy to mis-interpret people on here Quote Link to post

If you are breeding to anything other than a dog that is doing exactly what you are wanting to do with the pups then you are goin backwards. Quote Link to post
Terrier Sam 297
I'd go for a whippet. Pick the right one and you'll have a pup with plenty of guts and commitment in regards to rabbits - big or small. From the ones I've seen I like the way whippet based dogs work. They're able to put pressure on their quarry closer to hedges and fences because they can turn much quicker IMO. Ideal for the land in my area. That's what I'd do because I have a soft spot for the smaller types. ATB Sam Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
Was it not something like, take the best you got to the best you can find, or don't bother? 3 Quote Link to post
