milegajo 595
I've had the sporter and the synthetic thumbhole (see blog/hunters chronicles thread). I prefer the tx200. Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,589
Yo Simon are you gonna give it to big tony at SFS to tune? I've had the sporter and the synthetic thumbhole (see blog/hunters chronicles thread). I prefer the tx200. Horses for courses Mike. Respectfully mate, I have owned both my Mk.III TX200 .22 standard rifle and TX200HC .177 carbine, from new, for 12 years now. Both are in mint condition. Both are superbly accurate. Both are brilliant hunters. I love em! And both have an underlever latch-up block I do not like for what I need the HW97KT to do. The TX .22 rifle's underlever is not as precise on cocking return as the TXHCs and skews about the ball detent needing extra attention to secure it properly home. It also has the screamingly maddening habbit of working itself loose and falling off, unpredicably at times no matter how carefully I secure the hex-bolt. The TX200HC's block has grown incredibly stiff, which wracks my bloody fingers with constantly prizing it off the ball detent, cock it, and then, almost having to snap it back to get it to close up. Today while cleaning and oiling, I've badly pinched my right palm when I trapped the loose skin over my right index finger joint in between the barrel and underlever cocking aid! Right now, I have an angry stinging weal on my hand! As I've written here before too many times to count. Accurate shooting with any rifle stems from being in a comfortable and relaxed state. Absolutely the more so with spring rifles. I don't have issues like latch-up ever, with Weihrauch rifles. They just cock and shoot without fuss or drama. I like it that way. Likely as not, you will not have experienced these issues with yours. But, I've had enough experience of owning these two for the last 12 years to know how mine feel. And I do not want any more mental pressure or annoyances when I'm under the cosh in a competition! So the Weihrauch rifle gets the gig! Mawders....Oh yes! Very likely dear laddie!! Regards and compliments gentlemen. Simon Quote Link to post
milegajo 595
I have to admit, i decided between the two on aesthetics in the end, the performance was so similar. The dedicated right hand stock of the tx is both beautiful and wonderfully sculptes as well as comfortable. I've had mine barely a year, so don't have pianomans experience, though i did own a superb 16 year old mkii tx. Weighed a ton compared to the latest 97's! Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,589
I'll give you that Mike, the TX200 is the fairest of all in the aesthetics department. But the 97 has one crucial issue better sorted than its prettier Brit stablemate. And in my hands, Weihrauchs work on with precision; without something coming to grief. And that's all it should be about! Best regards fella. Simon Quote Link to post
