Working an Ex-Racer

Recommended Posts

Thanks Bear. My mate who I go out on the lamp with alot has had an accident with his working lurcher bitch and has been offered an ex-racer. His bitch MAY or MAY NOT run again, either way it wont be this season.

So hes thinking of having the greyhound and just seeing how he gets on, it gives him something to work with now instead of not being out and about.

Cheers

if brought on from a young age they can do a job for you but a older track dog will be in sick bay very fast you got to think the ex track dog as only ever ran in straight lines in the field theres all sorts of thing it will hit at full bore do not forget a track dog as never jumped so he is going through it not over it and as nothing in its mind but what ever it is chasing it as no fieldcraft but all the best with one if you try one. troter

My mate is gonna give one a try i think.

Hes not a daft lad, he will spend a good few weeks bonding with it and trying to get it used to trees/fences etc before he tries it on the lamp but he is well aware of the risks
