Scurries for Gundogs or all

Recommended Posts

I've seen several lurchers competing at scurries: and one who used to do very well indeed, which p*ssed the gun dog owners off a bit.

I don't see that there's a problem letting other dogs enter so long as you don't let everyone and their pet dog have a go which ends up being farcical when the owner doesn't have a clue and neither does the dog. If you set it up to look professional the pet owners won't dare enter anyway!

The CLA allow lurchers to compete in their scurries and if THEY do then why shouldn't you.

P.S. I'd better get practising! LOL Are you having a water retrieve or is it just on land?

We were a bit concerned about the water retreive a we thought the pond we had in mind might not be big enough, but having seen the scurry at the welsh game fair and talking to several competitors,I think ours would be well adequate ,the guy who is doing it has a lot of experience, and wants to make it as realistic as possible,a working test as he put it.
