Installing a soakaway

Recommended Posts

Has anyone installed a soakaway for there dog kennels?

What is involved? I've googled it and can only find huge ones for houses and they contain some sort of tank like a sess pit?

I was hoping it was just a big hole in the ground with various layers of gravel and hardcore and then connect to kennels with pipe?

I only want it for washing water and piss down.

Cheers

usually only use soak aways for rain water ,...........if your putting detergent etc , you could end up with problems , you would be surprised where and what damage it can cause .......

also if that got into water table went down to stream or pond you could get into trouble...........

seen a soak away where some one tapped a washing machine in it and it was killing all her rose bushes where the soak away needed re building........

you would be better tapping into mains really ..............but depends you need to weigh it all up around you ,...........plenty of membrane on the bottom then i use clean stone ,.....then rocks , blocks any hard core then perferated pipe chucked in with more clean stone ..........make sure you use terran on top so it let the rain water through , and then put 450mm of top soil , ..the tarran will allow water to penetrate but not the soil.................good luck me old cock...

if you are anywhere near a sewer pipe mate, find it, dig to it and tap into it, a lot less work in the future and smell, even if its just piss and water, a block that size will have a lot of water/ li

dig a trench to put your pipe in, it doesnt need to be the suez canal deep, just sufficiently deep to lay a pipe in under the soil and for a golf ball to run (without assistance) freely from one end t

you have some good sound advice there, do it right once, and then you have No hassle afterward, and with all this rain you will dig that land with ease, one good day and you will have the job done
