I have been to 2 target shotgun events, and after each course of fire, you have to prove your gun is unloaded and put a safety flag in it. The first time I went we were told to carry the gun by the butt with the barrel pointing down, second time with the barrel pointing up? As long as it's not pointing foward, I can't see a problem.
