DazAllison 32
Out with the big dog a walk and he slipped on wet grass chasing the daft pup but I think he's maybe pulled or tweaked a muscle in his back I think it's called a leader? It's abit sore to touch but he's walking fine, any tips remindes to ease the pain and how long will he need off? Cheers
MissRhianL 70
Its funny how the littlest things can cause an injury to a dog, if he can walk without yelping you should be ok, people dont realise when the dogs slip on grass or take a tumble it can hurt them whether they show the signs of injury or not, every time it happens to mine i just give the back and back legs a massage and do some light range of motion work with him, if your not sure what side is causing some jip have the dog to stand still (if possible) and stand behind him (if his back side went down or vice versa in front if his front went down) kneal down to his level and compare both side in muscle definition, size and if u can hold your hands on each side of the dogs body and run your hands down going over the same muscles each side and u should be able to feel a slight difference if there is some injury there as one side will over compensate for the injured side, once sides muscles will looks flatter while the other side thats carrying all the weight will be alot harder and rounder in muscle size, give him a light massage now and again and keep him on the lead to prevent further injury or aggrevation and give him a few weeks and hel be back to normal and gradually build his fitness up over the weeks
MissRhianL 70
Just a tip forgot to mention which alot of people go wrong - when your massage the dogs leg and do range of motion exercises DONT just massage the one side, both sides should always be treated the same
