skycat 6,174
Millet: how much difference does the image stabiliser make? they seem one hell of a lot more money than the non IS lenses: are they really worth it? I have a shaky hand problem: do you think it would make things a lot better? Edited to add: actually I think I've answered that question myself on looking back over a few of your wildlife pics: do you think you'd have achieved those results without the IS? maty j 6
what do people think to this lens at the moment i have a -200mm USM lens and it seems to be that little bit not enough. http://www.canon.co.uk/For_Home/Product_Fi...mm_f456III_USM/ cheers W.H ive got the mk 11 of that lens 75-300. i cant say about the mk111 as i havnt used it but find that the AF is quite slow on mine so the images are a touch out of focus and look soft. this is only on action pics though....on still things or slow moving its grest but most of what im interested in is the action shots so im looking for another lens at the moment that is faster at focusing. hth. just a couple of pics to see what its like. no doubt if i knew what i was doing they would be better but here they are. as far as im aware they have only been cropped so you can see the shrpness, colours etc Edited June 8, 2007 by maty j
Guest The Big Fish
I dunno, you guys and your expensive lenses I just got the cheapest lense that i could get hold of and learned how to use the thing Seriously though, even the cheapest lenses can do the job if your patient enough

Dawn B 212
I was talking too a lad who i work with the other day.. he is bang into photography and goes to a camera club several times a week.. and he said to me that any lens from 300mm up over should really have a image stabilizer on it unless you are using a tripod..Millet Thats exactly right Millet, but the 500mm lens is HUGE, you will ALWAYS need a tripod for it!! Here are some pics taken with the 75-300mm lens World Hunters has enquired about. Dawn.
