North West Terrier, Lurcher, and Whippet Club Dog Show last Sunday 19th AUGUST

Recommended Posts

Barrontop Fun Farm is located in the West of Northern Ireland and sits on Co Tyrones eastern edge of Lough Neagh, overlooked by the majestic Sperrin mountains. This open farm has a variety of animals, indoor bouncy castle and soft play area, adventure play ground, tractor and pony rides, face painting , tearooms and a gift shop. In conjunction with the North West Terrier, Lurcher and Whippet club, Barrontops owner George Mc Gerrigle hosts 3 dog shows each year at this picturesque Location. Barrontop is ideal for dog shows, because while the adults are enjoying the show, the children can enjoy a safe and fun packed day in paradise. This was the venue last Sunday the 19th August for the North West Terrier, Lurcher and Whippet clubs 3rd show of the year.

There was a good crowd at the show, and the weather kept up for most of the day. As we arrived with our dogs and families in tow Barry Holland and Joe Boggs was there preparing the show rings and taking the names for the racing. There was plenty of ringside parking, and although the ground was still very soft from the torrents of rain that fell the previous days before the show, everybody got in and out of the field without a hitch. The show commenced with the racing at approximately 1pm.

Here are some random Results. I did not get all of them, as we were showing our own dogs on the day. So please excuse me if you are not mentioned, It is not intentional.

And Finally, after a very enjoyable day, and evening approaching fast ,it was time to pack up and head for home. May I take this opportunity to thank Barry Holland and Joe Boggs for their meticilous organisation on the day. We all know the hard graft that goes on behind the scenes to make this show a success. Barry and Joe and helpers Nykila and friends, you come out with top marks on the day. A big thank you to the judges. Judging in any area is not an easy job, but you carried out your duties without a flaw. Our resident photographer Deidre Mc Coy was there on hand to capture our moments of glory, and of that Deidre we are truly grateful. I could not end without thanking the most important person of all. George Mc Gerrigle the owner of Barrontop for your kindness and hospitality and without your venue the show would not happen. Many thanks George for the lovely bowl of piping hot stew you gave to John and myself and some of our friends after the show. It was so much appreciated. We left Barrontop with some lovely memeories and met some lovely people on the day.

*Now it is off to see Uncle Albertj at Birr Castle Game Fair, Birr, Co Offaly at the Weekend for an end of season knees up . I am still not too old to enjoy myself you know , and that I intend to do. See you all there God Willing.

A Tribute to the late John Shaw who passed away  last Thursday 6th November 25

      I Am Free
Do not grieve for me now my  friends and family, I am free
I am following the path God Laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To Love, to live, to hunt, to show my treasured Whippets, or play.
I found a peace at close of day.
Be not burdened with the times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Do not lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts my friends and share with me
      God wanted me now,
      He set me free.
John, we will love you forever and you will be sadly missed by your loving family and all your Country Sporting Fraternity and in the show ring.
May the Angels above give you the best seat in Heaven and may your gentle soul rest in peace.
      For Country Sports Fraternity
