pup wormin

Recommended Posts

If a pup has never been wormed, which by the sounds of it, yours hasn't, expect to see worms for a day or two, but don't forget to worm again in a fortnight. Don't give a whole Drontal Plus for adult dogs: make sure you give the right size tablet, or dose for the weight of your pup. Probably no real harm will be done by over dosing, but it is kinder to the pup's stomach to give the right dose.

There may well be more immature worms inside the pup, which is why you should worm for roundworm every three weeks until the pup is about 4-5 months of age. After that I usually worm once every three months until the pup is a year old. After that, every six months.

Mate, if the person you had him off couldnt be arsed or couldnt afford to worm it, i think its highly unlikely that he would have bothered jabbing it. The only way you will know for certain id get it done yourself, 11 weeks is a good age to do it as the antibodies he would have had from the bitch through milk etc will have long gone now, and will let him bui;d up his own resistance / immunity when you vaccinate him. Given your lack of experience with such matters, take it to the vet to get it done. It may save the dogs life in the future who knows.

yes, i would have thought so. i give my pups two or three jabs over a period recommended by the manufacturer. Just ask your vet, tell him your not sure if its been done, and you want some advice, i bet he'll rip you off a few quid and do them again, its worth it for peace of mind imo. Your choice.

Can you not ask the guy you bought it off for the vaccination certificate that the vet would have filled in................but the again if he could not be bothered to worm the pups, really, what hope is there that they were vaccinated? It sounds like your pup was carrying a heavy infestation.
