I had a redpoll mules with one this year, just cut a small bit off a plaster and tape the claw to the leg for a week or so and it should come good.I did have to replace the tape a couple of times due to the bird pecking it off but to be honest it didn't mind it being there that much and get some help doing it as it's fiddly as feck  .

Could try taping a split ring and catching the toe in the ring as to speak so if the bugger does get the plaster off the ring may hold up the toe, could take Gnippers advice and tape it's beak shut over night  .
