mooch and a climb of an old friend!!!

Recommended Posts

2 trees actually. None hunting related but still memories. The first one is a tree in the village i grew up......its in the ministers garden. A massive tree which we called the "Rubber tree".....you could punch it as hard as you could and it never hurt. Infact we used to chap the ministers door and ask him if we could go punch his tree.......... Maybe you will know what type that will be mate.....massive tree, probably 40 feet tall. It blew down in the winds we had at the beginning of the year....took the wall down and everything. Must have been one of my punches slackened the roots when i was 10............... :whistling::D

The 2nd tree is a tree where my next door neighbours sons built a tree house years and years ago. It had a trap door on it. Me and my mate used to sit up there for ages just blethering when we were younger. I remembered it to be really high of the ground until a few years back when i had a walk to it and it was no height at all. Just goes to show when your small everything looks massive. My lasting memory off it was my mate taking a shit through the trapdoor..............pmsl..

ffs lol!!!! not sure on that one you can punch tho mate but defo want to find out???.... :hmm:

Honest you could hit as hard as you like mate.....very soft bark that took the impact....

Tree like that in our local park we used to 'box' it when we were laddies - u could smack f**k out of it all day long. Soft and spongy bark. Big tree too. Must be 60 plus ft tall. I'll take a pic tomorrow..

Use to be but its not worth the hassle I sub contract most of my work out no insurance issues or kit issues like 10 grand chippers etc I earn more money hard landscaping closeboard fencing etc that I ever did climbing :whistling:

Still do it when needs must like fruit prunning is art most lack the industry is full of really bad prunners with no feel for balance or shape.

And so much work is done at the incorrect time of year etc I post a picture tommorrow of a tree that was done by a local guy you will not belive it :icon_eek:

There's was an old tree down the disused allotments that we built dens in, had fires under in the pit, rope swings and most importantly was our meeting place for no good antics. Before we had mobiles it would be ' meet you down lockies at the tree at 8' so that none of our parents knew who we were out with but knew that if they couldn't find us that we would eventually pass the tree when we were finished catching lizards, making fires or whatever things we did back in those days. Went down there not to long ago and it was cut down and burnt
