Jamo 90
ok so i bumped into a friend the other day, he has been walking his neighbours irish blue and mentioned that he walks it on the horses woodchip path, as it builds up muscle for the horses and will do the same for dogs? just wondering if anybody knows if this is true or does it themself? cheers
Simoman 110
A walk on a path may build up muscle but it has nothing to do wih woodchip........
Jamo 90
ok cheers, he seems to think its for building muscle and strength because its harder to talk in?
Lab 10,979
Might be like running on the beach......have to work harder so could be something in it.
Simoman 110
Sand and woodchip have very different consistency.........Woodchip wont make any difference to building muscle

Malt 379
I'd assume that all the wood chip would do it give a better resistance than soft mud but be easier on the horses joints than a paved road?
Lab 10,979
Sand and woodchip have very different consistency.........Woodchip wont make any difference to building muscle I'll need to know depth and size of woodchips to density of sand before i can continue this debate any further.................
B.P.R 2,798
I walk the dogs everyday on a route and round a running track for the horses. I give them about 30mins free running on this track. I didnt even think there was a benefit to it although in the past few weeks I have seen an improvement in my bitch and her leg doesn't ache like it used to. Whether it's to do with the track or not I dont know but I'm moving house in 6 weeks so I'll be able to tell you
