Casso 1,261
ive got a new dog shes 11 month old and ive got her doing the lamp but she wont retreive but shes not interested in the dummy i was wondering whats the best way to get an older dog tetreiving cheers if the dog is only new to you chances are you hav'nt developed much of an understanding between you ,thing is bud, cases like yours are very difficult to help, its like trying to see into a room by looking in through the key hole, i dont know what you understand of dogs but positive interaction is hugely beneficial to how the dog relates to you, that includes hand feeding so the pup is completely at ease in your space, play is huge for the positive emotional development of the pup, i wouldn,t worry about the retrieve for now, work on creating an understanding based on trust and play, tug toys , tennis balls, any thing that get her smiling and tail wagging, if you are the facility where the pup see's all his good times coming through you, she will do what it takes to fall into line, dogs make themselves social for the greater benefit of the group, in other words if you are the greatest motivational input in the pups life she will gravitate towards and do as much as she can to understand your bidding, you can go back to basis all you want bud and read all the posts on here but sometimes you just need to look beyond the issue and just see can the relationship be improved, a lot of understanding canines comes from the heart not the head, best of luck with her 3 Quote Link to post
